Recruiting

If you're interested in joining a Vulcan Krewe, this page will set you in the right direction. There are very few experiences that compare to spending a year on a krewe and the moments, memories and life-long friendships you build make it worth every effort. However the Vulcan Krewe deserves the best recruits and in the interest of delivering the best, there are some specific criteria that are desired. Below are some things to consider.

  • Recruits need to be sponsored by members in good standing of the Imperial Order of Fire and Brimstone - former Vulcans each of them.
  • Recruits make a commitment to the organization. These commitments are fulfilled over a five-year period by the krewe as a team and with exception of your running year, are primarily fulfilled during and leading up to the ten days of the Winter Carnival. These yearly commitments consist of:
    • Year 1 - your running year
    • Year 2 - mother henning which is helping the new krewe through their carnival week
    • Year 3 - selling a charm (pin) to the community as a fundraiser
    • Year 4 - planning and executing your own fundraiser
    • Year 5 - planning and executing the Vulcan Victory dance
  • Recruits must be in reasonable physical condition as you will be walking in parades and spending a great deal of time on your feet.
  • Recruits who have been involved in Winter Carnival activities are preferred though not required.
  • Recruits may live anywhere in the area but you will spend a great deal of time in St. Paul and the surrounding communities.
  • During your running year there will be opportunities to travel to other communities, most in Minnesota but some in Florida, Manitoba and other places.
  • Recruits must pass a background check.

If you are interested in submitting your name, use the contact form in the upper right hand corner of this page and we will direct you to an event where you can meet some of the members and get acquainted with the activities and functions that come along with being a Vulcan!
